It has been a long time does not post review here.
I have squeezed some time to take some photos and movie on this new UMPC of Eking.
Following the UMPC of Eking S515, Eking deputed a new slide-and-tilt UMPC Eking M5.
Eking M5 incorparating Intel Z515 (1.2GHz) processor, 1Gb ram, 3M webcam, 16G SSD, Wifi, BT and 3G module.
Upon a brief testing on the device, I have the following user experience.
Buit quality
:
1. Whole case is plastic and make it not professional or even non-stylish.
2. The gap between the sliding screen and the body is large (on video).
3. The connection cable between screen and body is exposure (on video).
Screen quality
Sharp LCD with LED backlight. Screen quality is good. However it is a "resistive" multi-touch screen and is not capactive type as previous rumor. The response is not impressed me.
Hard-key
:
The mouse keys and navigation key are useful but the keys arrangement are not user friendly.
Sometimes when I want to navigation on the web, I pressed the left-mouse key~~
LED indicators
:
There are HD, Wireless & 3G LED indicators on the left-hand side. Clear and easy to read.
Whereas, power, battery and caps lock indicators are on the right-hand side. Very informative.
Screen resolution is 1024 x 600 on 5" screen. Clear picture and the tilt angle is better than UMID and Viliv clamshell UMPC.
Keyboard
:
5-rows keyboard with number keys. Good design.
Thumb typing only be good for large-hand guys. Me....just ok.
Key size: ~7 x 8mm
Doesn't test the 3M camera~~~sorry
Battery
:
Battery size is 2600mAh. With 3G connection, 3.X hours, close to 4 hours battery life!!
Also, here is an internal battery inside M5. When in standby mode, you may hot-swap the another battery!!!
(see video)
Keyboard backlight
:
You may turn on the keyboard backlight by pressing the function key [Fn]+[Q].
However, it does not turn off automatically when closing the screen. Funny design!!
Is it a familiar leather case???
Sorry for the brief and draft review~~~
Two videos coming up
