Guy over aigo MID (Hong Kong) just informed us, the first Intel Menlow (Silverthorne + Poulsbo) based mobile internet device (MID) will be available on 08/08/08 in Hong Kong, hopefully in the world (the same day as Beijing 2008 Olympic Games)!
aigo MID P8860 arrives with Midinux (Linux) OS, Intel Atom Z500 (800MHz) processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB SSD, Wifi(802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and GPS{amendment: there is no WWAN}. Integrated QWERTY keyboard with backlight, 4.8”WVGA (800x480) resistivity touch-screen and weight is just ~350g in 152 x 80 x 21.9mm dimension!! (I bolded the outstanding features.)
aigo MID P8860 will reportedly check in at HK$5228 (US$670) and you may find more details in the official website of aigo Hong Kong. Media press release will also be held on 08/08/08. Don't miss our report!

Indeed I was thinking in the strange decisions of OEM's. In this case, I just don't realize why they don't include HSDPA connection, because that hardware is not expensive at all and, besides, carriers could subsidize this MID, as they do with HTC shift, for instance. Keeping in mind that there are lots of places without wifi connectivity, and keeping also in mind that WIMAX popularity is far in the future, I just don't understand why aigo/gigabyte limit their device in this way.
